Reading Assistance Voucher ($700) Program
The Department of Education, Science and Training (Link: http://www.dest.gov.au/), announced the Reading Assistance Voucher programme in May 2006, to assist Grade 3 students who did not meet the year 3 national benchmark for reading in 2006. The Curriculum Corporation is administering the programme. Victorian Catholic primary schools will be responsible for the employment of staff to tutor these students.
Payment for teachers who provide instruction for this program should be paid in accordance with the rates and conditions set out in the Victorian Catholic Education Multi-Employer Agreement (2008).
The school may choose to pay a tutor as either a part-time teacher working additional hours or an emergency teacher may be employed. This decision will be based upon whether or not the employee is a current employee of the school or a casual employee.
